Formula and method

Trial balance difference = Total debits − Total credits

Add debit and credit ledger balances and identify any difference. This supports checking a trial balance prepared from accounting records.

How to use this calculator

  1. Collect the figures for the same entity, currency and reporting period.
  2. Enter each input using its label and unit. For percentages, enter 15 to mean 15%.
  3. Choose Calculate, inspect the breakdown and compare the result with your assumptions.
  4. Change one input to explore a scenario. Recalculate after edits; display rounding does not round the underlying calculation.

Inputs at a glance

  • Credit account balances: Enter each credit balance as a positive number.
